ENGLAND’S GOWER TARGETS LET RETURN ON HOME TURF

In October 2024, England’s Ellie Gower clinched her first professional title at the LET Access Series (LETAS) season-ending Calatayud Ladies Open.

“Winning felt kind of surreal at the time,” the 23-year-old said. “It was amazing to win my first professional event. I had my boyfriend on the bag for me as well, so that was really nice. I’ve not won since, so hopefully it’ll come sometime soon.”

Gower’s win secured her a 13th place finish in the 2024 LETAS Order of Merit, which allowed her to play nine LET events in 2025.

“It was a great experience,” she said. “I didn’t make many cuts, missed a lot of cuts by one or two shots, so that was a little bit frustrating.”

This year, the Englishwoman is back competing on the LETAS and playing her fifth event at the Women’s English Open in Manchester.

She comes into her home tournament in good form having recorded a tied-14th finish at last week’s Swedish Strokeplay Championship in Uppsala.

Gower, whose golfing hero is Charley Hull, currently sits 70th in the 2026 Order of Merit standings, although a win this week could take her into the top 10.

“I’ve been playing well,” she said. “I’ve struggled a little bit on my putting, not really been holing that many birdie putts so hopefully a few putts will drop this week.

“The goal is to try to get top seven on the Order of Merit to get my LET card, but if I don’t do that, then top 30 to go straight to the final stage of Q-school.”
