Australia’s Justice Bosio and Germany’s Sophie Witt are tied at the top on seven-under-par with round remaining of the Lavaux Ladies Open.
Bosio, who started on 10, had a slow start with a bogey on the first but had an exceptional finish with three birdies in her last five holes.
Speaking straight after her round today Bosio said: “It’s been a good two days. I think I have gone out there. Not much has been going on in my head. Sometimes I think that’s the best way to play golf.”
This week mark’s the 21-year-old’s first time in Switzerland as she’s travelled Europe for the first time this season on Tour.
“Switzerland is so pretty, the weather has been nice. Since we’ve been here today there is not a cloud in the sky which is great.
“It’s reminded of home a little bit because I know the weather will be like this at home.”
The Lavaux Ladies Open is Bosio’s last LETAS tournament of the season as the rookie returns to Australia before the final event due to limited days in Europe.
“I know I have one last chance to give it my all and I have. I knew that if I played bad, nothing would happen but if I played well, I could move up the rankings.
“It feels good to be at the top of the leaderboard again. I know I need to go out and win the tournament this week to have a chance of getting into the top seven.”
Bosio, who currently ranks 11th on the Order of Merit, is 203.24 points away from the seventh spot. A win here could see her have one final chance to earn an LET card.
“I hope everything will go well tomorrow, I want to give it my all and I have nothing to lose.”
Joining Bosio on seven-under is Germany’s Sophie Witt who also fired consecutive rounds of 68 and 69.
Witt had trouble in her first two holes today but soon bounced back with two consecutive birdies on holes four and five before another dropped in on nine.
On her back, Witt lost a stroke with a bogey on the 10th before firing three more birdies to finish the day on top of the leaderboard.
“Today I had a very bad start. I was not feeling good this morning, I had a bit of sickness, and it was tough for me to go out there and find a focus.
“Yet I brought it back and I’m very happy with the outcome. I started to trust it, took the shots and just played.”
This is the 22-year-old’s first season on LETAS after she lost her LET playing rights, partially due to sustaining an injury.
“After the last one and a half years its very nice to be back in the final group. I will try to enjoy every hole, try my best and we will see what comes.”
“Tonight, we plan to go out for a nice dinner, I will take my mind off the golf, finish a thriller book and then rest for tomorrow.”
Switzerland’s Anais Maggetti has had a fantastic tournament, placing as the highest Swiss each day. The seasoned pro currently sits tied third on six-under-par alongside Sweden’s Corinne Viden and Czechia’s Patricie Mackova.
“It feels great to play well again. I struggled a lot this year with my irons. I think it’s one of my strengths normally, so it was nice this week that they were working.”
Maggetti has another reason perhaps for sitting near the top of the leaderboard this week. The Swiss player took some lessons from LETAS’ top ranked player Gemma Clews on the range for the last two weeks.
“Gemma came with me on the range last week and this week and given me some tips. They are working so that’s great. I will always take tips from the number one.”
Slovakia’s Michaela Vavrova and Sweden’s Lousie Rydqvist are tied sixth on five-under-par whilst two Swiss players Yana Beeli (a) and Priscilla Schmid are tied eighth on four-under-par.
54 players made the cut which stood at +2. The final round begins at 8:45am local time with the leaders going out at 10:24.
