Mexico’s Fernanda Lira and Iceland’s Ragga Kristinsdottir are tied at the top of the leaderboard on six-under-par.
The weather gods were not on Saint-Omer’s side today. Play was suspended for a first time at 13:01 before it resumed at 13:30. Play was suspended for a second time at 14:24 before getting underway again at 16:30. Only two of the afternoon groups finished.
Round two will continue at 8am local time tomorrow morning.
Iceland’s Ragga Kristinsdottir had an excellent second round of 67 (-5) to climb up the rankings today.
It was a flawless round for the 28-year-old with five birdies dropping including two consecutively on holes 11 and 12.
Speaking about her second round, Kristinsdottir said: “I am beyond happy with that round. We got lucky that the first 10 holes the weather was ok.
“We knew the weather was coming so we wanted to get off to a hot start. I was five under through 12 and I just tried to keep it there.”
Kristinsdottir currently sits sixth on the Order of Merit after 12 events. It’s been her best season on paper with a win at the Vasteras Open and two more top 10 finishes.
Lately, the race to get an LET card has felt like pressure on Kristinsdottir’s shoulders but she’s feeling stronger mentally.
“I’m feeling a lot better now than I did maybe two or three weeks ago. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to get it done.
“But now I’ve realised that you can’t control what anyone else out there does. So, I will just control what I can control, and I think the result will be what it will be in October.
“This result is a big confidence boost. I played well last week in England, but I didn’t have the putter so now everything is kind of clicking and the scores show it. Tomorrow will be more of the same.”
Lira also shot a strong second round of 69 (-3) to finish on top of the leaderboard. Three bogey’s, four birdies and an eagle constituted the two-time season winner’s scorecard.
“I did miss out on two good eagle opportunities and that stung but apart from that I had a couple of great recovery shots and gave myself a lot of opportunities.
“I never get to play in wind, rain and cold. In Mexico when it rains, it thunders. So, this year has taught me that I can play in those environments.”
It’s been a fantastic season on LETAS for Lira who has balanced time between the LET and the development Tour.
The 30-year-old has recorded two wins, and two further top 10 finishes to almost secure her LET card for 2025.
“I want a good result as I am skipping next week for La Sella. I will be back for the last event because I want the closing chapter.
“It would take a lot for me to miss the top seven, but it’s always in the back of my mind. It can happen. I am focussed on the process, playing well and hopefully it will take care of itself.”
Overnight leader Sweden’s Moa Fridell sits solo third on five-under-par with one more hole to play tomorrow.
Austria’s Katharina Muehlbauer and Germany’s Sophie Witt sit tied fourth with the latter still to play.
Two players are tied for sixth, England’s Charlotte Heath who fired a fantastic second round of 67(-5) and Slovakia’s Michaela Vavrova who is one-under through 14.
Over on the Alps Tour, France’s Quentin Debove, 23, surged into the clubhouse lead at the 2025 Hauts de France – Pas de Calais Golf Open after carding a 5-under-par 66 in today’s second round.
Also tied at the top with Debove is Ireland’s Hugh Foley who has seven holes left to play.
