Scotland’s Laura Murray and Caroline Martens from Norway set the early pace in the 1st round of the HLR Golf Academy Open, at Hillside Golf Club in Vihti, Finland. Both players shot an opening three under par 68 to tie for the lead. Conditions proved difficult with heavy overnight rain and strong winds in the afternoon.

Martens is enjoying a good season on the LET Access Series, currently lying third on the Order of Merit, with a season best 2nd place finish at the Kristianstad Ahus Ladies Open in Sweden.

Murray, playing in her rookie season, is looking to improve on her season best of 41st place in Kristianstad.

Switzerland’s Fabienne In-Albon shot an opening 69 to sit alone in third place, with Linda Henriksson the best placed Finn, alongside Caroline Rominger, Daisy Nielsen and Anjelika Hammar, all tied for fourth position at 1 under par.

The second round will commence at 8.00am from both the 1st and 10th tees.
