Flood, starting from the tenth tee, dropped a shot on the par 4 12th but picked up a birdie on the par 18th to cover the front nine in even par. Five birdies on the back nine, four coming in the last five holes gave the young Australian a closing nine of four under par. Flood was extremely pleased with her putting, commenting that the Terre Blanche greens were some of the best she had played on tour.
France’s Marion Ricordeau was pleased with her level par round as she had struggled with her game. Ricordeau said, “I’m really happy, it was really tough. I didn’t hit it really good so I am really happy. I will try to play better tomorrow and have some more putts in. I know it was a tough day for everybody and I think par is a good score and for me it’s great.’
Twenty-five professionals and two amateurs made the cut which fell at 5 over par, with the best placed amateur Pamela Pretswell lying in third place at 2 under. Play starts at 9.20am for the final day.
