England’s Hayley Davis has assured her place on the Ladies European Tour next season with a stellar performance on the LET Access Series this year. The 26-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough LETAS win earlier in the season at the Bossey Ladies Championship, along with a further five top 5 finishes, which sees the Englishwoman well clear at the top of the LETAS rankings.
Davis sits 2,183 points ahead of Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen, who will miss the remainder of the season to compete on the Ladies European Tour. Italy’s Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso is currently occupying third spot some 9,531 points behind Davis.
The Order of Merit title seems assured but Davis will be keen to secure another win this week at the Rügenwalder Mühle Ladies Open at Golf Club am Meer in Bad Zwischenahn, Germany, and gather more confidence and experience to take into the 2020 LET season.
This week’s tournament will feature six other LETAS event winners from this season. Russia’s Nina Pegova became a first time winner claiming the Viaplay Ladies Finnish Open. Spain’s Laura Gomez Ruiz also claimed her first win at the Montauban Ladies Open, along with Emma Grechi at the Belfius Ladies Open, and Annelie Sjoholm, who won on her home course at the Anna Nordqvist Vasteras Open.
Greta Isabella Voelker will also be a player to watch this week. The German will be relishing playing at home and will enjoy the challenge of collecting her second trophy of the season to sit with her first title earlier this season at the Neuchatel Ladies Championship.
England’s Rachel Goodall already has two LETAS wins under her belt. The 29-year-old claimed her second title earlier this year in Spain, recording a record breaking 61, nine under par, in the second round of the Ribeira Sacra Patrimonio de la Humanidad International Ladies Open. Goodall comes into this week with a top 10 finish in her last event and knows a win will put her in the hunt for an LET card for next season.
There are five German professionals in the field, in addition to Voelker, and ten elite amateurs who will all be vying for a home win.
