Field Set For Montauban Ladies Open

                                                                                                  Greta Isabella Voelker

The Montauban Ladies Open, the third of seven new events on the LET Access Series schedule this year, begins on Thursday at Golf de Montauban l’Estang in Montauban, France.

Eighty-five players from 26 different countries will compete for the title over the picturesque course set on the north side of Montauban.

Twenty-two-year-old Greta Isabella Voelker, who claimed her maiden title at the Neuchatel Ladies Championship last month, will be a player to watch heading into the eighth tournament of the 20 event schedule. The German player is joined by England’s Hayley Davis, who has started her LETAS season strongly, with two top four placings in her first two outings and a further top ten at the recent Viaplay Ladies Finnish Open. The 26-year-old from Poole, who narrowly missed earning her LET card via the LETAS ranking last season, will be hoping to secure a top 5 position on this year’s LETAS Order of Merit.

Other players to watch will be France’s Anais Meyssonnier and Chloe Williams of Wales, who are currently lying in 5th and 7th place on the LETAS Order of Merit. Meyssonnier recorded a season high 3rd place at the Neuchatel Ladies Championship and will be hoping to secure her first LETAS win at home in France.

Williams has refocused her efforts over the winter, working on all areas of her game and fitness. The 24-year-old from Wrexham has put herself in contention on a number of occasions this season and that first win surely will not be far away.

There is a strong contingent of 15 French professionals, including past LETAS winners Lucie Andre, Marion Duvernay and Ariane Provot. There are also 10 elite French amateurs in the field, led by Yvie Chaucheprat, who finished a very creditable tied 19th in the opening event of the LETAS season in April, the Terre Blanche Ladies Open.

Play gets underway at 8.30 tomorrow morning from both the 1st and 10th tees.
