Karolin Lampert
Karolin Lampert from Germany will play in her first Evian Championship this week, having qualified with a second place finish in the Jabra Ladies Open.
The 23-year-old from Sandhausen narrowly missed out on the victory when she was defeated at the first play-off hole, but she still brings great memories to the event.
“It’s been great so far. I played a practise round yesterday and the course is great. It’s definitely a lot longer than we played in the Jabra, but it’s a great test. It’s still good to have the experience of playing on the same course. I know where to hit it. Tomorrow is a new day so we’ll start again,” she said.
Lampert has posted three top-10 finishes on the Ladies European Tour this year, including another second place in the Investec South African Women’s Open and fifth in the Lalla Meryem Cup, so she starts the week ranked sixth on the LET order of merit.
This will be her third Major, after the Ricoh Women’s British Open in 2017 and 2018.
“I’m hoping to play well and hitting it quite well. I’m happy with my season so far and hoping to make it into the weekend. If I make it to the weekend then my parents and grandparents might come to support me, because they are working at the moment. Hopefully they’ll see me play,” she said.
Karolin is amongst the earlier starters on Thursday and will tee off at 9.09am in the company of Mi Jung Hur from South Korea and Brianna Do from the United States.
