Getting to Know Johanna Bjork

Sweden´s Johanna Bjork is looking forward to playing in her home country this week and to further develop her game this year on the LET Access Series. We asked Johanna some quick questions…

Who is your favourite golfer?

Henrik Stenson ofc! He is a powerful golfer with an aggressive swing but always with a bit humour and a smile on his face

Which is your favourite club in your bag?

Driver! Nothing beats the feeling of a great drive down the fairway

What’s been your biggest golfing achievement of your career?

When I won the Swedish Match Play Championships in 2016

Which is your favourite golf course?

Saadiyat Becah Golf Club in Abu Dhabi. We played a LET event there 2016 and it was great!!

What is the one thing you could not live without?

Milk. I don’t have any specific item that is very important to me but it’s always nice to get home to Sweden and have a cold glass of milk! Or my BOSE quiet comfort headphones, when I forget them at home the travel is terrible

Who do you most look up to?

Henrik Stenson for his determination to keep going when he had a tough couple of years. Sarah Sjöström for her ability to keep her own expectations low and doing it for fun even though she is the best through all times in the world!

What is your favourite food?

Cheese of all kind! I make a great halloumi lasagna

How would you spend your perfect day?

Hiking in the woods without cars, people and buildings…  Just me and the nature

Your favourite city?

Helsingborg…my home town. Big enough to always meet someone new and small enough to always meet a friend when you are out

Describe yourself in one word?

Determined

What do you like doing besides playing golf?

Hiking and spend time outdoors. Picking mushrooms, berries, running, fishing, playing with my dog… all kinds of stuff.

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?

New Zealand. They have both skiing, hiking and beaches, can it get any better? I have been fortunate to travel the world for a few years but New Zealand is a place I really want to visit but never have.

What’s your best golfing tip for a beginner?

Do the easy thing! Don’t make it to difficult, if you are in trouble just chip out don’t try to complicate it, it will cost you more shots in the end.

Do you have any superstitions before a round?

Nope nothing. I try to just roll with everything as it comes. Sometimes the weather is really bad or the range is closed or there is a traffic jam so you just arrive 10min before your tee time. Then you have to be able to play anyway.

What is your most memorable sporting moment?

At the Ladies European Masters at the Buckinghamshire GC in 2015, I hit my iron over the last green (par 3) into the sponsor village. (Adrenaline?) I was up there so there were a bunch of cameras following us and I though it was OB. We couldn’t find any lines and had to get a rules official. It was in play apparently so I had to play it off the pebbles next to a sponsor tent. I had about 30m to the pin and chipped a 9 iron under the trees up the hill to about 3m. I finished with a bogey but still happy with that!

Do you listen to music before your round?

No almost never. I just get annoyed if a bad song comes on… haha

What’s in your golf bag besides golf balls and clubs?

Sunglasses and sunscreen ALWAYS

What are your goals for 2017?

Depending on where I play in the world I am not sure about my goals yet. To have fun and just develop as a person is always on my list
