Murray Records First Win at Elisefarm Ladies Open

                                                                                              Laura Murray

Scotland’s Laura Murray recorded her first win on the LET Access Series, with a solid final round of 70 for a 7 under par total, 209, at the Elisefarm Ladies Open in Horby, Sweden.

The 28 year-old from Aberdeen did not enjoy the strongest of starts, with a birdie on the first, followed by bogeys on the 2nd and 4th holes. Murray rallied with birdies on the 9th, 10th, 14th and 15th to pull ahead of her closest challengers, Sarah Schober of Austria and overnight leader Stacey Keating from Australia.

A bogey on the 17th was a late blemish but Murray was two clear of her closet challengers and well in control.

Keating started the day with a one shot lead but early bogeys on the 1st, 2nd and 4th dropped her back into a tie for 3rd place early in the final round. The 30 year-old from Ballarat rallied with birdies on the 5th, 7th and 9th but was unable to make headway on the back nine, covering the final nine holes in one over par for a round of 73 and a total of 5 under par.

Schober enjoyed more of a rollercoaster final day, with seven birdies, four bogeys and a costly double bogey on the 16th hole, for a round of 71 to tie with Keating at 5 under par, 211. The Austrian is enjoying a strong season with two runner-up placings before this week. Schober is now just 132.75 points behind LETAS Order of Merit leader, Maria Parra, who missed this week’s event, as she was playing in the World Amateur Team Championships in Mexico.

The LET Access Series moves to France next week for the NordicTrack Open de Strasbourg, which takes place at Golf Club de Strasbourg, from the 22nd – 24th September.
