Sweden’s Amanda Strang now in her fourth year as a professional played a full season on the LET Access Series in 2015. Amanda answers a few quick questions before the 2016 season.
Do you have a nickname your friends refer to you by? If so what is it?
They call me Amanda or Sträng. When someone says my full name “Amanda Sträng” I know I’m in trouble because it is the only time they (family and friends) use it.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you?
- Soccer ball
- Radio with solar power system
- Water
If you could have an unlimited storage of one thing, what would it be?
Peanut butter
What is your favourite activity you do when you want to relax?
Watch sports, spend time with friends and family or watch a movie or TV show
How do you spend your time in the airports?
Listen to a good podcast or watch a TV show and probably drinking a coffee
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Treat others as you want to be treated
What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
Fried crocodile!

Thoughtful

What advice would you give to aspiring amateurs looking to turn professional?
Your technic is important but don’t forget the game is about getting the ball in the hole in the fewest shots
Do you like cooking? If positive, what do you like / prefer to cook when you are at home with friends?
Yes, I like to cook Thai food and different chicken dishes

Tell us something you hate doing. Why?
To take showers.. But since we do everything as a challenge in my family and I have the record of 1 min and 37 seconds to wash my hair and get dry.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Playing on the Ladies European Tour.
What has been you biggest golfing achievement?
Individual: My win on the Nordea Tour
Team: 3 Gold medals in the European Team Championship
What is your favourite golf course to play and why?
I love to play my home course, the Tour Course at Vasatorp! I just love the layout!
Do you have any superstitions before playing golf?
No not really!
Age you started playing golf? How did you get involved in golf?
My Mom asked me if I wanted to try since she and my brother were playing. I said sure and I immediately loved it!

9 years old
What is your best travel tip?
Bring some good movies or TV shows with you
Your lowest ever round of golf? Where and when?
We had a qualifier with my school team in South Carolina and I shot 64
What’s your favourite club in your bag?
My 60 degree wedge
What’s in your golf bag apart from clubs and golf balls?
My putting aid, probably some nuts and a lucky charm from my family
What is your average driving distance?
225-235 meters
What tournament are you looking forward to most this season?
Hopefully I will get in to an LET event but at LETAS I’m looking forward to the PGA Halmstad Ladies Open

What is your Favourite distance to practise?
I like to practise between 45-55 meters, but my favourite shot is all type of bunker shots
If you could learn any language fluently, what would it be?
Arabic
What were your first set of golf clubs?
Don’t remember the name but I remember I got 7 clubs including a golfbag and a trolley!
