The 2015 LET Access Series season began today at Dinard Golf with the first round of the Open Generali de Dinard, which also constitutes the first event of the Generali Ladies Tour.
At the end of the first day, which was played in warm and sunny conditions, 19-year-old German amateur Olivia Cowan, ranked 25th on the World Amateur Ranking and Finn Sanna Nuutinen shared the lead after both players opened with a 3 under par, 66. Nuutinen took a two stroke lead, reaching 5 under par but two bogeys on the 14th and 16th holes halted her progress.
England’s Eleanor Givens, who recently finished in a tie for 13th place at the LET’s Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco, started strongly with a 2 under par 67, matched by Scotland’s Michele Thomson, both players occupying third place.
Six players are tied in fifth position at 1 under par, including amateur Lauralie Migneaux, the leading French player. Fellow countrywoman and defending champion, Valentine Derrey signed for an opening 71, two over par after struggling on the greens.
Tomorrow’s second round will commence at 8.30am.
