A field of 89 players is set to tee up in the Open Generali de Strasbourg at Golf de Strasbourg in France, from September 25 – 27 this week.
This is the final event on the 2014 Generali Ladies Tour, the official feeder tour which forms part of the LET Access Series, created to give professional golfers and elite amateurs the opportunity to play and gain an exemption category on the Ladies European Tour as well as gain exemptions from LET Tour School.
Following the Open Generali de Strasbourg, three players will qualify for the Lacoste Ladies Open de France being played at Chantaco Golf Club in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Aquitaine, from October 2 – 5.
There will be wild cards available for the winner of the Generali Ladies Tour Order of Merit, the top French professional and the top French amateur.
The field of entrants includes competitors from 18 different countries from across Europe to Australia.
Players to watch include French professionals Cassandra Kirkland, winner of the 2012 LET Sanya Ladies Open in China, Jade Schaeffer, winner of the LET’s 2009 HypoVereinsbank Ladies German Open and 2011 Raiffeisenbank Prague Masters and Caroline Afonso, winner of the 2010 LETAS order of merit, as well as the 17 French amateurs in the field.
There are seven of the top ten players on the current LETAS order of merit in the field, including second ranked Lina Boqvist of Sweden, third and fouth placed Isabella Ramsay and Emma Nilsson, also from Sweden, and Caroline Rominger from Switzerland, who occupies fifth place.
They are joined by promising rookie Georgia Hall of England, Norway’s Tonje Daffinrud and Sanna Nuutinen from Finland, among others in the thirteenth tournament of 16 on this year’s LET Access Series.
At the close of the 2014 LETAS season, the top five players on the 2014 Ranking will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour while players in sixth to 20th positions will have the opportunity to progress to the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School for 2015.
