When Andrea Bergsdottir recorded her career-best finish of solo third place at the 2025 Arkea Montauban Ladies Open, she stayed with a British host family.
The Icelandic player, who was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, is hoping to replicate her success by repeating the same routine.
Bergsdottir, 26, said: “Last year, we just asked for a host and ended up there. So this year, I just sent a message to them privately and asked if they wanted to host again, and they were more than happy to.”
Besides providing food and shelter for Bergsdottir, the Hopkins family, Peter and his daughter Poppy, even came out on course to support her on the final day when she shot 67 (-5) to surge up the leaderboard.
“Just being in that little family side of it, getting food and all the support from them and hopefully they can come out and watch like they did last year which gave me some motivation and support,” Bergsdottir said.
“That helps a lot, knowing the place, the course and people I’m staying with. I even stay in the same bedroom as last year, just everything the same.”
Despite a slow start to the season, finishing T-29 and T-42 at the Madaëf Golfs Ladies Open and Allegria Stergersbach Ladies Open respectively, she remains optimistic on a course she knows well.
“I like the course, it’s fun to play, and I feel the greens are really good so it brings some confidence just knowing the place,” she said. “I would just be happy, going off this week, feeling confident making more putts than I have at the past couple of tournaments.
“Obviously, it would be a bonus to beat last year’s score and beat the third place. I feel like my game is more mentally stable this year, I know what’s going on around here on Tour, so I think that’s a good feeling into this year as well.”
