Interview with Spain´s Patricia Sanz Barrio

Patricia Sanz

Spain’s Patricia Sanz Barrio finished runner up to her fellow countrywoman, Mireia Prat, on the 2013 LETAS Order of Merit, earning her Ladies European Tour card for the 2014 season. We asked Patricia about her experiences in 2013 and her future plans.
How was your experience on LETAS last season?
I had a great experience on LETAS last year. I think it is a great tour to be prepared for LET, Di does an amazing job in organising the tournaments and it keeps you in play all year. Also all the players are very friendly and we are like a big family.
If you could choose a tournament and a golf course last year on LETAS, which ones would they be?
A golf course probably Fourqueux, the golf course was very challenging and the whole environment was great. And probably as well as a tournament. I finished 2nd, having a great last round and I really had a great week as a whole.
Tell us the player you admire the most on LETAS and the one that you have been most impressed with when playing this year?
This is a very hard question because there are many players I admire but I would have to say Pamela Feggans. She has a great attitude on the golf course and her short game is unbelievable, especially her chipping. She can make up and down from anywhere. It’s very admirable. I also really enjoy playing with her, she plays fast and very well.
Analyze your game this year. What do you think has been the best part that helped you to play so well?
I have been very consistent with my long game and I have been improving my short game considerably, which has made a difference from previous years.
What are your expectations next season on LET?
Play as good as possible. Try and work as hard as possible to keep my card and play my best golf.
Is there anything you think you would need to improve to perform well next season?
I hope I am prepared, but if I am not I am going to work as hard as possible to be.
Who are your favourite players currently playing on LET?
Carlota (Ciganda) is one of my favourites, she’s a wonderful person and has the best short game I have ever seen.
Suzann Pettersen, shes a machine. I love the way she plays, the way she carries herself on the course and her courage.
Which tournament would you most like to play next year?
The Evian Championship.
Who is your golfing hero?
Lorena Ochoa
How will you spend your Christmas break?
Spending time with my family and maybe some skiing.
