MACLAREN EXCITED TO TEE IT UP AT THE ROSE LADIES OPEN

Three time LET winner, England’s Meghan MacLaren is excited to tee it up at her first Rose Ladies Open.

Last week, the 31-year-old had a good week on Tour finishing tied eighth at the inaugural Women’s Irish Challenge.

Speaking about her game, MacLaren said: “My confidence has been on and off over the past couple of months. Without going into too much detail, it’s been a rough couple of years but this year things have started to get back on track.

“In Ireland it was nice to get a result and solidify how I feel about my game.”

Five years ago, MacLaren became the second winner of the Rose Ladies Series and won again this year in May, yet this is her first time teeing it up at the flagship event.

“When the Rose Ladies Series first came into existence in Covid-19 I think we were all just blown away that this was real and it really happened.

“So, to see the commitment and how it has turned into a proper tour event has been amazing.”

MacLaren has a special connection to Hanbury Manor as both her parents used to work here so she spent time here as a child. Her father David used to be Director of Golf at the club.

“I’ve played here a few times. I used to be around the place when I was tiny. I don’t remember a lot.

“I do have a connection to the place so it’s cool to be playing a tournament here.”

“I think the course is great, there are two quite different nines. Whenever I’ve played here in the past it’s been the middle of winter and I’ve not paid too much attention so to play it under tournament conditions, I think I have a better appreciation of how good a test it is.”

MacLaren has played most of the season on the LET. Her highest finish was also in Ireland, tied 21st at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.

“This week there is no specific goal, but I would just like to kick on from last week and solidify how I feel about my game. I want to put three rounds of good golf together.”

Teeing it up so close to its home has its benefits and MacLaren is excited for the support from family and crowd this weekend.

“My mum and dad are both going to come and watch at various points during the week and I’m sure there will be a few people watching because golf is always supported in the UK.”

MacLaren tees it up at 13:03 local time alongside two players inside the LETAS top seven, Czechia’s Patricie Mackova and Denmark’s Amalie Leth-Nissen.

The Rose Ladies Open begins on September 5 and will see 108 players teeing it across 54 holes.
