The CostaBlanca Ladies Open, the penultimate event on this season’s LET Access Series, which will be held at Font del Llop Golf Resort, from the 18 – 20 November is, according to the general opinion of all parties involved, “A new show of support for women’s professional golf in Spain and a wonderful opportunity for sport and tourism for Costa Blanca.” The event was officially announced at the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation in Madrid on Monday this week.
Mr Gonzaga Escauriaza, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, thanked all parties involved in the organisation of the tournament. “Women’s golf is growing day by day in Spain, with spectacular results this season, collecting the fruits of work developed over many years. The RFEG is pleased to see that also through the LET Access Series, our players find a way to progress and reach the highest levels.”
Mr Andres Torrubia, President of the Federation of Golf of Valencia, expressed similar views. “The organisation of this tournament is a success, from the Golf Federation of the Valencian Community, with the support of the Board of the Costa Blanca and Font del Llop Golf Resort. This tournament is a great opportunity to get to know the Costa Blanca as a sports and tourism destination.”
Mr Salvador Lucas, President of the Association of Golf Courses of the Costa Blanca, thanked on behalf of his organisation the commitment made by the sports institutions. ” We want to present the wide variety of attractions in our area. There are fifteen golf clubs within the Association of Golf Costa Blanca, many places to play, varied and multiple possibilities, to the point that it is a complete destination for both domestic and foreign visitors.”
Mr Alberto Iglesias, Director of Font del Llop Golf Resort, explained, “The tournament has the backing of all employees of the club. We want the players and all the visitors to feel at home. Thanks to all the team at Font del Llop Golf Resort, we look forward to presenting our golf course, our cuisine and our weather.“
Similarly, Di Barnard, Tour Director of the LET Access Series thanked all parties involved in the organisation of the tournament. “It’s fantastic that Spain will hold two of the fifteen tournaments on the LETAS calendar, showing the commitment of all parties involved. It will be a strong, international field, with approximately 30 Spanish players, both amateur and professional competing. The Costa Blanca Ladies Open will be the penultimate event on the LET Access Series and the players will be vying for the available LET exemptions, five cards on the Ladies European Tour and a place at the final stage of LET Tour School.”
LETAS Order of Merit leader and member of Pro Spain, Mireia Prat, conveyed her appreciation for the support she has received. “It’s a great opportunity for all of us and especially for the Spanish players. It allows us to stay competitive and have new options to compete. My goal is achieved for this season. I’ve grown a lot as a player this year, precisely because of the opportunity to play on the LET Access Series, a path that I think is much better than the LET Qualifying School.”
