CLEWS LANDS THIRD LETAS TITLE AT ALLEGRIA LADIES OPEN

Gemma Clews

Gemma Clews can now call herself a three-time winner on the LET Access Series (LETAS) after the English star secured a one-shot victory at the inaugural Allegria Ladies Open.

Starting the third and final round two shots behind compatriot Jessica Hall on three-under par, Clews followed up yesterday’s rain-ridden 66 (-4) with a round of 70 (E) to win by one shot in Austria.

“It’s amazing,” Clews said. “I’ve had a pretty average start to the year, I would say. It’s not been bad but it hasn’t been anything to write home about. My game has felt good though and I’ve been working hard on a lot of stuff. This week it worked!”

The win was clinched by a stunning chip-in eagle at the par-5 15th which helped take Clews ahead of home favourite Katharina Muehlbauer.

“It felt like nothing was really happening today,” she said. “But as soon I saw the chip I fancied it. I just told myself concentrate on the strike, and then yes, it managed to go in.”

Clews was accompanied by Mike Korver on the bag, fiancé to LETAS player Nikki Hofstede. The partnership is new for the season and worked a treat at Allegria Resort.

“Mike was great,” the Englishwoman said. “He made amazing decisions. It was a lot trickier out there today, the wind got up quite a lot. It swirled like crazy. But we had a great plan at the beginning of the week and we stuck to it. It paid off.”

The victory follows a difficult year for Clews on the LET where she lost full playing rights before returning to the LET Access Series in 2025. It is her third win on LETAS having claimed the 2023 and 2024 Smorum Ladies Open.

“Last year was such a struggle for me,” the 30-year-old said. “Especially in my long game which has always been my biggest strength. It then turned into my weakness. Halfway through last season I put a lot of pressure on myself and left myself too much to do. But this year I’ve been working so hard with my team at home. I’m really happy with the stuff we’ve been doing and it showed in my game this week.

“This win is for my mum and dad. They’ve sacrificed so much for me to play golf over the years. They are my biggest fans.”

In second place finished the beforementioned Muehlbauer on two-under par. The runner-up finish is the Austrian’s second top-10 of the season.

Overnight leader Hall carded a final round 74 (+4) to finish the week T3 alongside Slovakia’s Michaela Vavrova on one-under par.

France’s Charlotte Liautier and Sweden’s Isabella Deilert shared fifth spot on even-par.

In the 2025 LETAS Order of Merit, Clews jumps to second position on 603.75 points. Denmark’s Amelie Leth-Nissen still leads the way on 681.00 points boosted by a T7 finish in Austria.

Next up for the stars of LETAS is a trip to Spain for the Santander Golf Tour – AVILA. The tournament tees off on May 29th at Naturavila Golf.
