LETAS VISITS AUSTRIA FOR THE FIRST TIME

Austria

In May, the Allegria Golf Resort Stegersbach in Austria, located in the picturesque South Burgenland, will host the Allegria Open 2025, the fourth tournament in the LETAS schedule.

With a current field size of 126, the tournament will be one of the key events on the path to the prestigious Ladies European Tour (LET) and is the only international women’s golf tournament in Austria.

It marks the return of an LET presence in Austria, where the last tournament held was the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open, won by Caroline Hedwall in 2012.

Throwback to 2012 and Hedwall winning the ULIQUA Ladies Golf Open.

The Allegria Resort Stegersbach is proud to host Austria’s only professional women’s golf tournament.

With a total prize pot of 50,000 euros, the event not only promises thrilling competition but also offers a unique opportunity to watch the stars of tomorrow compete for Order of Merit and world ranking points.

The organization of the Allegria Open is spearheaded by Astrid Wilfing, the experienced Golf Manager at Allegria Resort, and Günther Holpfer, whose daughter Isabella, an aspiring golf professional and LETAS player, has made significant contributions with her ideas.

Jörg Schober, hotel consultant and idea expert, is also part of the team. Their dedication and vision play a key role in establishing this event as a permanent fixture in the international tournament calendar from 2025 onward.

“We are proud to be the host and venue of Austria’s only women’s golf tournament, and we look forward to a successful debut,” says Marcel Pomper, General Manager of Allegria Resort.

“We warmly invite media representatives, sponsors, and golf fans to be part of this extraordinary event, which perfectly combines the beauty of golf and the hospitality of South Burgenland.”

Isabella Holpfer, who is playing her first full season on LETAS in 2025 said: “Bringing a professional golf tournament back to Austria after more than a decade is something that I am incredibly proud of, as it not only promotes the sport but also inspires future generations of female golfers in the country.

“Personally it marks a milestone in my journey, as I took my first steps as a toddler in the clubhouse of the Allegria Resort, where I also participated in summer golf camps.

“So I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play on my home course in my first full season as a professional golfer.”

Katharina Muehlbauer, winner of the 2023 LETAS Link Series at Ramside Hall and highest ranked Austrian on tour said: “It means a lot for everyone who is part of it. For LETAS it is great that we are playing in a new country and therefore reaching more people and growing awareness of how many good female players there are.

“For Austria it means also a lot! We are finally hosting a professional women’s Tour again and this gives a lot of hope also for the young girls in Austria. Golf is also growing in Austria and this big step is one reason for it.

“There is so much I am excited for. Obviously teeing off in front of a homecrowd is always awesome and I am sure some friends and family will come out to watch which is special for me as well.

“Also that I can show my friends on tour a bit about our culture our good food and the friendly people is something I am looking for as well.

“It‘s gonna be a great week and I can‘t wait for it.”

The Allegria Ladies Open takes place between the 21-23 May.
