Two of the LET Access Series’ own, Spain’s María Herráez Galvez and Scotland’s Clara Young joined forces to take on the Santander Golf Tour’s doubles event in Valencia.
Held at the El Bosque Golf Club, the doubles tournament is popular amongst LETAS players with 16 out of 22 pairs made up of our players.
Herráez Galvez and Clara Young finally took victory after an intense playoff against the duo formed by France’s Céline Herbin and Valencian player Marta Pérez.
After signing two rounds of 65 strokes in fourball mode on the first day, and Greensome on the second, the dynamic duo secured their first victory as a couple.
Young said: “The tournament has been great. We played very well, we make a great team.
“It has been two very solid days of golf. Today was not so easy as we played one shot each, but we got along very well by having a very clear strategy. It was an almost perfect lap, we are both very happy that the work has paid off,”
“I am very happy for my first professional victory, and I can’t imagine a better friend than María to share it with.”
For her part, Madrid’s Herraez Galvez was very satisfied to secure her second consecutive victory on this circuit after her victory in Empordà Golf (Girona).
In addition, last year she also managed to win at the El Bosque Golf Club. “Remembering a first professional victory has stirred many feelings. I think it is a field in which I feel very comfortable and I want to continue adding,”
“I think the game is progressing, so we will continue working so that there are more titles to celebrate this year.”
Behind them, Céline Herbin and Marta Pérez finished in second position after signing a final round of 67 strokes, finishing with minus fourteen total.
Catalan Mireia Prat, and Malaga’s Laura Gómez came third who signed the return of the day with 64 strokes.
The special prizes went to Natalia Escuriola and Amaia Latorre for the best celebration, and Almudena Blasco and Reme Cortés for the best uniformed couple.
The next event of the Santander Golf Tour will be at Izki Golf (Álava), which will become the fifth round of this 2024 circuit sponsored by Banco Santander.
On the 19th June, a co-sanctioned event between the Santander Golf Tour and the LET Access Series will occur at Naturavila Golf.
