Just before Christmas, 151 Ladies European Tour (LET) hopefuls battled it out to secure a coveted top 20 place at the Lalla Aicha Marrakech Q School.
Two players from the LET Access Series (LETAS) had their Christmas dreams come true when they successfully clinched their card (category 12) for the start of the 2024 LET season.
Spain’s Teresa Diez Moliner proved that Q School is a ‘marathon not a sprint’ as she navigated Pre-Qualifiers and finished seventh on four-under-par after consistent rounds of 72, 70 and 73 to progress to final stage.
Diez Moliner had a flying start with a first round score of 66 (-7) seeing her finish tied fourth alongside Finland’s Linda Osala.
The Spaniard then dug in for the next four rounds with incredibly consistent rounds of 73, 73, 72 before finishing with a flourish on 68 in the final round.
Diez Moliner concluded her 2023 season with a 40th position on the LETAS Order of Merit. Her performance at Q School proved that a previous season doesn’t define the next.
Alongside Diez Moliner, Norway’s Dorthea Forbrigd walked away happily with a card for the 2024 LET Season.
At final qualifiers, Forbrigd had rounds of 69, 74, 71, 72 and a fantastic final round of 65 to finish a comfortable 13th on 12-under-par.
The 26-year-old from Olso divided her 2023 season between the LET and LETAS.
On the latter tour, Forbrigd was a fierce competitor claiming two top five positions, her highest being runner up at the Lombardia Ladies Open.
Meanwhile on the LET, Forbrigd also secured four top 20 finishes, including a tied seventh place at the Big Green Egg Open.
Forbrigd benefited last season from the LET Re-Ranking and was able to earn a fast track to final qualifying.
Now by earning her card from finishing top-20 the Norwegian can play a full season and have plenty of opportunities to make an impact.
Both players should get their 2024 season underway in just over a month’s time at the LET’s first event, the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, which starts on the 8th of February.
