Heather MacRae
Scotland’s Heather MacRae broke through for her first win on the LET Access Series with a one hole play-off victory over Belgium’s Chloe Leurquin and Kym Larratt from England.
Larratt had set the clubhouse lead, after an impressive 67 (-5) to finish at two under par. The English golfer from Market Harborough, finished her round strongly, with two birdies in the last five holes.
MacRae, competing in her third season on LETAS, shot a final round 68 (-4) to join Larratt. The Stirling golfer opened with two birdies, but stumbled on the par 4 fourth after scoring a double bogey six. With a bogey on the sixth, MacRae dropped back to three over par, before starting a magnificent run, covering the last twelve holes in 5 under par, which included birdies on the 17th and 18th.
Leurquin had the opportunity to overtake Larratt and MacRae, with a birdie on the final hole, but could only manage a par to also finish at 2 under par.
MacRae continued her good form from her final round, holing a 2 metre putt on the first play-off hole to claim victory. The win moves the Scottish golfer into 5th place on the LETAS Order of Merit.
Finland’s Linda Henriksson closed with a 71, to finish in fourth place with Jessica Karlsson from Sweden, matching the best score of the day (67), to finish in fifth place on her own.
The next event on the LETAS schedule, the Fourqueux Ladies Open, takes place from the 6 – 8 June at Golf de Fourqueux, near Paris, France.
