The LET Access Series heads to Sweden this week for the Kristianstad Åhus Ladies PGA Open at Kristianstad GC in Åhus, for the second event of the season.
The 54-hole stroke play tournament features a strong international field of 110 players from 25 different countries, led by 2013 Nordea Tour Order of Merit winner, Lina Boqvist, who finished tied 11th in first event of the season, the Association Suisse de Golf Ladies Open a fortnight ago.
Boqvist is joined by Denmark’s Monica Christiansen, winner of the 2013 Dinard Ladies Open, who withdrew from the Association Suisse de Golf Ladies Open, due to illness.
The strong field includes Cecilie Lundgreen from Norway, who won this event in 2012 and also the Women’s Bank Open in Finland, on her way to finishing third on the 2012 LETAS Order of Merit. Laurette Maritz, from South Africa, a past winner on the Ladies European Tour, will also be a strong contender for the title.
The Kristianstad Åhus Ladies PGA Open is the first of five events on the LET Access Series this year, which are part of the Nordea Tour. Four of those events are in Sweden and one, the Ladies Norwegian Challenge, is in Norway.
There is a large contingent of 53 Swedes in the tournament field looking forward to playing on home soil.
At the close of the 2014 LETAS season, the top five players on the 2014 Ranking will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour while players in sixth to 20th positions will have the opportunity to progress to the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School for 2015.
