LETAS RETURNS TO ENGLAND FOR TRUST GOLF LINKS SERIES

The LET Access Series (LETAS) returns to the UK after a three-year hiatus for the Trust Golf Links Series. The first of the two events will be held at the Ramside Golf Club in northeast England.

With Trust Golf sponsoring both events of the series that are also supported by The PGA, there will be more in play besides the trophy, LETAS Order of Merit points, and the 40,000 EUR prize pool.

A separate ranking system has been set up for the Trust Golf Links Series to determine the best two players in the two events who will receive an invitation for the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open to be played at Dundonald Links between July 28–31.

A total of 62 players will compete in this week’s tournament at Ramside Golf Club with eight ladies from the LETAS Order of Merit top 10 including four 2022 winners.

Last week’s champion and the new Order of Merit leader Momoka Kobori from New Zealand will lead the pack in her fifth LETAS event this season.

The Kiwi already clinched two wins on the tour alongside two top-10 finishes and she will aim for the highest spots this week again.

Germany’s Chiara Noja will tee it up in England which she called her home for many years before moving to Dubai.

The 16-year-old sensation secured her maiden professional win earlier this year at the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge and added four more top-10 finishes on LETAS this season.

The highest-ranked English star this week is Gemma Clews currently sitting in fourth place on the Order of Merit.

The Manchester native is still chasing her maiden triumph on LETAS but competing in her homeland gives her a more comfortable position as she already won on the Rose Ladies Series last year.

Two more 2022 LETAS winners are in the field for the tournament at Ramside Golf Club.

Australia’s Kristalle Blum earned her first European win a fortnight ago in Belgium while Italy’s Lucrezia Colmbotto Rosso secured the trophy at the season opener in Terre Blanche.

Sweden’s Anna Magnusson, Austria’s Katharina Muehlbauer, and Germany’s Patricia Isabel Schmidt are the remaining three players from the rankings’ top 10 as all of them are on the hunt for their maiden professional win.

Competing in the event are also seven Thai amateurs, accepting the invitation from Trust Golf, a Thai-based technology enterprise. Founder Dr. Prin Singhanart is passionate about supporting Thai golfers and giving them opportunities to compete on European grounds.

The 54-hole tournament goes underway on Wednesday at 8:30 BST from the first hole.

After the completion of round two, 45 professionals plus all ties will make the cut to play in Friday’s final round in England.
