Lien Willems
Belgium’s Lien Willems (-4) takes a one shot lead into the 2nd round of the Fourqueux Ladies Open, after shooting an opening 68 on a weather interrupted opening day.
Willems was an early starter and therefore not affected by the storm, which delayed the afternoon starters by just less than three hours. Play resumed again at 8.00pm local time.
The Belgian started with six straight pars, before her first birdie on the par three 7th hole. The 25 year-old from Mortsel dropped shots on the next two holes, before playing the back nine in 30 shots, 5 under par.
France’s Cassandra Kirkland was one of the players who had to leave the course at 5.04pm due to lightening in the area. The Frenchwoman was able to keep her concentration after the long break, returning to the course to complete her back nine and finish the day at 3 under par.
Spain’s Mireia Prat, the current LETAS Order of Merit leader, Austria’s Christine Wolf and Daniela Prorokova, from the Czech Republic are all tied for third place at 2 under par.
The second round’s play will commence at 8.00am on Friday morning from the 1st and 9th tees.
