For the second week in a row, Jane Turner has headed the leaderboard on the LETAS at the €45,000 Bossey Ladies Championship by Pitch and Play.
Tied with her for the lead is Astrid Vayson De Pradenne who has been knocking on the door all year for a win. The two players shot a matching pair of six-under 65s at the par-71 Robert Trent Jones Jr layout in Bossey, France to take the early lead.
Scotswoman Turner carded eight birdies against two bogeys while Astrid who hails from France went one better with nine and three respectively.
Speaking after their rounds which included a combined seventeen birdies, both were unanimous about good putting and short irons which made their rounds easier as the day went on.
“The greens are fast and some are undulating which could leave you with difficult putts if you’re on the wrong side. I’ve been working on my putting with the Aimpoint technique which has helped over the past year.” commented Turner, whose best finish came last week in Spain at T10.
“You can’t shoot 65 without all parts of your game working” said the ever chirpy Vayson de Pradenne. Her first birdie came on the 2nd hole. “When it went in, I thought – here we go!” The Frenchwoman finished second last week in Sweden after losing in a playoff to Luna Sobron, and before that T3 in Spain.
Right behind at four-under 67 were Anais Meyssonnier of France and Spain’s Natalia Escuriola. Order of Merit leader Meghan Maclaren is tied for sixth with two others at two-under, 69.
In perfect weather conditions at 28 degrees and with very little breeze, the fairways are offering a lot of carry. The greens aren’t slow either, rolling at 9.5 on the stimpmeter.
The cut is projected at +3, currently forty second place and ties are inside the line. Sarah Nilsson from Sweden withdrew with a bad back days after winning the Ladies Norwegian Open for her maiden victory on the Swedish Golf Tour.
The tournament is played between August 15-17 and is supported by the French Golf Federation, the Swiss Golf Association and the Swiss Independent Golfers Association.
Pitch and Play was founded by Alexis Sikorsky, an avid golfer whose love for the game got him involved. The company organizes many tournaments across the world, including the Paris Legends Championship on the European Senior Tour, which they sponsor.
