Thunderstorms disrupt Castellum Ladies Open

                                                                                   Charlotte Thompson

Five players including England’s Charlotte Thompson were tied for the lead at three-under as thunderstorms interrupted the afternoon groups during the opening round of the €35,000 Castellum Ladies Open at the Sundsvall Golf Club.

Thompson who is currently at number three on the Order of Merit is joined by Sweden’s own Anna Svenstrup, Scotswoman Jane Turner, amateur Malene Krolboll from Denmark and Finn Tiia Koivisto. The five players are all between holes 9 – 15 on the back-nine.

The next best on the leaderboard are the trio of France’s Anaelle Carnet, Camilla Hedberg of Spain and Finland’s Linda Henriksson, a winner earlier in the year in Switzerland. Carnet and Hedberg are currently the clubhouse leaders at two-under par and in the process shot their lowest rounds of the year. Henriksson still has six holes left in her round.

Play has been suspended for the day at the par-70 course in Kvissleby, Sweden. Tomorrow at 07.00 local time, the first round will resume. This means that the second round will be pushed forward by an hour. The morning groups will go off at 09.00 while the afternoon tee times will begin at 13.30.

Other notables in the field;

Meghan Maclaren (T17 at even par through 12 holes)

Johanna Gustavsson (T9 at one-under through 12 holes)
