Three tied for the lead in Sweden

Danielle McVeigh

Ireland’s Danielle McVeigh, Chloe Leurquin from Belgium and Sweden’s Lina Boqvist are tied for the lead at 1 under par, after the second round of the Solvesborg Ladies Open hosted by Fanny Sunesson, on Thursday.

Boqvist, tied for the lead overnight with Swedish amateur Emma Nilsson, struggled on her back nine after moving to 4 under par for the tournament early in her second round. The young Swede double bogeyed the par four 10th, followed by three bogeys in a row from the 12th, before finishing strongly with birdies on the 16th and the 17th.

Leurquin, who is combining her studies in Business & Engineering with competing on LETAS, played solidly with two birdies and two bogeys on her card for a level par round, 72. McVeigh, who finished tied ninth in last month’s Ocho Golf Ladies Open, shot the best round of the day (-3) in sunny but windy conditions.

Finland’s Sofia Harkonen (70) and Linda Henriksson (71) are both tied for fourth position at level par.

Thirty-four professionals and five amateurs made the cut, which fell at seven over par. The final round starts on Friday morning at 8.20am.
