THREE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE LADIES SLOVAK OPEN

Grey Bear

10 year after the last LET event, the LET Access Series (LETAS) now returns to the beautiful Grey Bear, Tále for the Ladies Slovak Open.

Between August 22-24, 126 players will tee it up for a €45,000 prize fund across three 18-hole rounds of golf.

This will be the first time LETAS has a tournament in Slovakia, so it promises to be a history-making event.

Before play gets underway on Thursday, here are some things to look out for….

10 SLOVAK GOLFERS TO PLAY

Three Slovak golf professionals and seven amateurs will compete on home soil at the Ladies Slovak Open.

This will be a week to remember for them all as women’s professional golf returns to Slovakia for the first time in 10 years.

Home favourites include Michaela Vavrova who recently turned professional in July.

The 23-year-old, who is teeing it up on her home course, is excited to have her second start as a professional on LETAS.

Slovakia’s Anika Bolcikova is also a home favourite. The 25-year-old spoke openly back before the start of the season about her struggles as the only Slovak on tour.

So, the chance to tee it up in her home country is a massive opportunity and one she will relish.

BRIEM IS BACK

In other news, our number one ranked player Helen Briem returns to the tour as a professional.

Briem, who turned professional at the end of last month, took LETAS by a storm when she won three consecutive events as an amateur.

(At the time of writing) the 19-year-old sits at number one on both the LETAS Order of Merit and LETAS Rookie of the Year List and will be looking to consolidate that position.

THE BEARS

Yes, Grey Bear, Tále Ski Golf & Hotel Resort lives up to its name. There are bears surrounding the golf course.

However if anyone is worrying there should be nothing to fear as there are procedures in place to prevent them coming onto the golf course.
