Thomson and Matharu Tied For Lead in France

                                                                                        Michele Thomson

Scotland’s Michele Thomson and Kiran Matharu of England are tied for the lead at the NordicTrack Open de Strasbourg going into the final day’s play.

Both players recorded a second round of 68, 4 under par, to move to 8 under par for the tournament. Thomson had the more adventurous round, chipping in for an eagle on the 4th hole and finishing with four birdies in a row.

“I kind of got off to a slow start, I didn’t really play that well. I started on the back nine and I double bogeyed on number 18, which came from nowhere. And then I was two over going into my back nine and then parred my way until I eagled the fourth, which got me back to level par. And then I finished with four birdies, so that was nice.”

Matharu played solidly from tee to green, recording just one bogey and five birdies in her round.

“I hit 16 greens, just one bogey. Just played really steady to be honest. Didn’t do much wrong apart from the last hole where I hit it a bit right and was blocked out but that was the only bogey I had all day. I just got a new putter, it’s the first week I’ve used it and it’s working really well.”

Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen (68) and Camille Fallay (68) of France are tied for 3rd place, just one shot behind the leaders at seven under par, 137.

Forty-two professionals and six amateurs made the cut, which fell at two over par. Tomorrow’s final round will commence at 8.20.
