S2. Ep. 6 Helen Briem: “I play to win, not to come second.”

Three weeks is all it takes to become a name everyone is watching. Welcome to the podcast Helen Briem and congratulations on your back-to-back wins in Montauban and Czech. Now Briem takes on a new challenge, to be the first player in tour history to record three consecutive wins.

For the two-time Ping Junior Champion, Junior Ryder Cup Champion and 2023 R&A Girls Amateur champion, events in the last few weeks have not played into her hands despite the outward success.

For instance, falling one stroke short of the top-10 at the Amundi German Masters prevented Briem from an exemption into the next LET event and making her mark on a higher stage. Likewise, the top-10 exemption did not apply at the Scandi mixed where she finished tied second. Nevertheless Briem has dusted herself off and focused on earning her LET card as quickly as possible on LETAS.

Get to know Briem better, learn why she is yet to turn professional, how she balances school and golf and why she always wears the same shirt in final rounds.

“As I’ve said many times, I play to win. That’s the attitude for every tournament and it doesn’t change, no matter if it’s a special tournament or something.”
