Finland’s Tia Teiniketo had a difficult week in Montauban but is determined to put that firmly in the past as she prepares to play at Panorama golf.
In 2023, the 26-year-old had a strong no bogey round on a high scoring final day to finish third, her highest place finish.
Now, the Finn dreams of going two better and enjoying a week on her favourite course from last year.
“My aim is to ignore last week, pretend it didn’t happen. Last week I just had three bad holes. That was it and now I’m moving on.
“It’s a tough course this week don’t get me wrong but on a lot of the holes, I feel especially last year I would just look at it and I could see where the ball was going to end up before I hit it. I felt very comfortable.
“This year I’m going through some swing changes, so we’ll see if I feel as comfortable.”
Teiniketo, the U21 Finnish Girls Matchplay champion, has so far struggled off the course in her second full season on tour.
“This season has been a little harder. Off the course I’ve struggled with sponsors so there’s added pressure to play well and earn money to play next week.
“Yet this week I just want to enjoy every moment because I really like the course. I love the views and I just want to have fun.
“I just love the layout, it’s very pretty to look at. Even if you have a bad hole, you can look around and just think this is so nice.
“When I’m having fun, I play better so that’s the goal this week.”
Teiniketo starts her campaign at 8:29am alongside 2023 winner, Puk Lyng Thomsen and Australia’s Belinda Ji.
