TAMBURLINI TRYING FOR ANOTHER STRONG FINISH IN ITALY

Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini is feeling rested and ready for a week competing at the Lombardia Ladies Open at Golf Club Varese.

The 23-year-old Swiss player has had a fantastic season on the LET Access Series (LETAS). Out of 10 events she has played, Tamburlini has taken six top-10 finishes including two wins at the Rose Ladies Open and PGA Championship Gothenburg.

After two weeks off from competing, the Swiss star is ready to chase another top-10 finish or better this week.

“I feel ready for this week, it was nice to get some time off. It was much needed. I’m excited to be close to home. I’ve got friends coming to watch, my coach is here, and it feels like a nice and familiar setup.

“This week, I will try to keep things simple but I’m aiming for a top-10 finish or maybe even a win again. You can’t control that as much but I’m just trying to get another good finish and consolidate my spot in the top-six.”

Fatigue caught up with Tamburlini after the Hauts de France Pas de Calais Golf Open where she placed tied seventh after rounds of 69, 69 and 73.

Yet the Swiss player has insisted she is fighting fit again and well rested.

“I was sick the last day of France and the days after I just rested and stayed in bed but then I did some other stuff, I worked out a lot. I went on some hikes and got to spend time with friends.

“Last week, I’ve practiced a lot and tried to get back into the swing of things.”

Tamburlini also took time out to watch the Solheim Cup two weeks ago and took inspiration from Team Europe.

“Watching the Solheim cup has inspired me, it was crazy seeing Maya and Linn there, having played with them in my amateur and college career. It’s really inspiring and become a bigger goal of mine to be there one day.”

The third ranked Order of Merit player who is fluent in Italian is also embracing the home from home atmosphere this week.

“I went to high school 40 minutes from here, but I’ve never actually come and played at Golf Club Varese, but it still feels very familiar and a bit like home.

“I love being able to speak Italian to all the people and I love the Italian vibe. It makes me feel comfortable this week.”
