Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini fired a 68 (-5) to take a two shot lead heading into the final day of the Rose Ladies Open.
The 23-year-old had a strong front nine carding three birdies with a bogey on the ninth.
At the turn, the Swiss star continued the momentum by sinking three birdies and a bogey on the 11th to take the lead ahead of Scotland’s Hazel Macgarvie and fellow Swiss player Elena Moosmann.
Speaking about today’s round, Tamburlini said: “I’m pleased! I think I hit 17 greens today. I just really kept the ball in play, and it was solid. Nothing too spectacular.
“I hit my irons well which was fun because that’s been a struggle of mind. I’m pleased to see the work pay off little bit.”
It’s been a good back end of the season for Tamburlini who has made four top-10 finishes including a win at the PGA Championship Gothenburg event in Sweden where she made an impression at her professional debut.
“I’m excited to be in the leading group again, I’ve been there quite recently at the PGA Championship Gothenburg, and I loved it, so I hope to replicate that tomorrow.
“I like to be the leader and have that pressure. I think it’s so fun to go head-to-head against other people that are close to the lead as well. It almost turns in to match play in a way. “
Tamburlini currently sits seventh on the LETAS Order of Merit, just outside the top-6 spots and a chance of earning a card for the LET in 2024.
“I’m aware of where I sit in the Order of Merit. I take it as motivation. Knowing that I’m so close helps. I must keep fighting until the end because I know that every shot is going to be so valuable in these last couple of events.
“I will definitely be chasing that second win tomorrow, definitely.”
Two shots behind Tamburlini lies Scotland’s Hazel Macgarvie at her second LETAS event.
The 23-year-old from Troone had a strong second day at Brocket Hall carding a round of 69, three-under-par.
Starting on hole 10, Macgarvie got off to a shaky start with two bogeys in her first three holes before bringing it back with three birdies and an eagle on the 18th.
Two more birdies and two more bogeys on holes seven and eight set her back in second position.
Speaking about her round, Macgarvie said: “Your putting must be strong on these greens, they are completely different to what I’m used to in Troone where they are flat.
“Here they have slopes to contend with and are pretty fast as well so it’s just a case of being confident with the putter.”
Macgarvie, who also plays on the LET has had a mixed season with a best finish at the Helsingborg Open where the Scottish player came 40th.
“I’ve played in a couple of the Rose Ladies Series events, but this is my first time playing in the Rose Ladies Open.
“We have perfect weather, the setup is great and I’m enjoying it.
“Tomorrow I’m going to try and do the same again, hit the fairways, the greens and hold a few putts. Keep it simple.
“It would be amazing to win, it will be my first professional win so that would be nice.
“I just need to try and do the same again tomorrow and then try and control those nerves a little bit better than I did today.”
Further down, there is a five-way tie for fourth place with Spain’s Clara Moyano Reigosa, Denmark’s Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen, England’s Gemma Clews, Australia’s Kelsey Bennett, and home favourite Georgina Blackman all sitting on two-under-par.
The cut stood at +4 with 53 players making the final day at Brocket Hall. The leaders go out at 12:00pm local time.
