Swedish Trio Lead at Borås Ladies Open

                                                                                            Viva Schlasberg

Swedes Josephine Janson, Viva Schlasberg and amateur Emma Svensson all opened with a round of 69, 3 under par, to tie for the lead after the first round of the Borås Ladies Open at Borås Golf Club, near Gothenberg in Sweden.

Both Janson and Schlasberg enjoyed a return to form after missing the cut in the three LETAS events they have played this season so far. Schlasberg credited her improved form to making some swing changes and employing a different attitude on the golf course.

“That was a nice round, I hit a great nine iron from the trees on hole four and it rolled up to a meter away for birdie that was pretty nice. I made a good birdie on five I holed a five meter putt, it just went in, and that got my round going.”

“I have spent some time working on my grip in recent weeks and just learning to rip it. It’s great to see it paying off. I have also been working on not thinking so much, with breathing techniques and just letting my swing do the talking.”

“I’m feeling really confident about tomorrow I am looking forward to it. I’m going to spend the afternoon relaxing and watching Sweden play football.”

Five players, Ines Lesculier from France, Austria’s Sarah Schober, Sanna Nuutinen from Finland, and Sweden’s Jenny Haglund and Alexandra Lennartsson are tied for 4th position at two under par after opening rounds of 70.

Play will commence at 8am for the second round from both the 1st and 10th tees.
