Fanny Sunesson
At the beginning of September in 2011, Fanny Sunesson caddied for the last time at the highest level, for fellow Swede Henrik Stenson. Nowadays, she has moved to the Karlshamn neighborhood and works as a coach and lecturer.
From May 22 to 24 this year, Sunesson will carry out an unusual assignment, as hostess for the new Nordea Tour event, the Solvesborg Ladies Open, which also forms part of the LET Access Series. Sunesson commented, “I was a little surprised when the request came, but this will be exciting. The idea is that I will share my experiences from all the years on the tour. I was tournament director at the Volvo World Golf Challenge in South Africa, where 67 amateurs from 30 countries participated. I learned a lot from it. In Sölvesborg I will take care of the sponsors of the pro-am, give lectures and make sure everyone is happy. If I have the opportunity, I will be on site throughout the competition.’
Sunesson has no plans to return to caddying during the event but admits she has thoroughly enjoyed her past experiences, “I will certainly feel the craving a bit. However, I’m not used to carrying the bag for ladies and the only girl I’ve worked with is Michelle Wie. It was great fun.”
The Sölvesborg Ladies Open hosted by Fanny Sunesson will take place from the 22 -24 May at Sölvesborg Golf Club in Sweden.
