Tonje Daffinrud
The fifteenth event on the LETAS schedule, the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies Open, will take place from the 10th-12th October at Crete Golf Club. A total of 63 players make up the field which will compete for the €30,000 prize fund.
The field will feature last week’s Azores Ladies Open winner, Tonje Daffinrud of Norway who will be vying for her second win of the season. Spanish amateur Marta Sanz Barrio will look to continue her success this season and aim to keep the trophy in the family, Marta’s sister, Patricia Sanz Barrio, was the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies Open winner 2013.
The field also includes the trio of Swedes, Lina Boqvist, Isabella Ramsay and Emma Nilsson, who have all won LETAS tournaments this season, and are now aiming to secure Ladies European Tour cards for 2015.
Switzerland’s Caroline Rominger will hope to continue her good form; the Swiss has finished in the top five in five of the last eight events and will be chasing her first LETAS win. She is joined by fellow countrywomen Melanie Maetzler, who is also hoping for her first LETAS win and to move in to the top five of the order of merit.
Other notable competitors include England’s Georgia Hall, winner of the Open Generali de Strasbourg last month, Denmark’s Daisy Nielsen and Italy’s Vittoria Valvassori.
The top five players on the LETAS order of merit will progress to the Ladies European Tour for next season, with players finishing from 6th to 20th place qualifying directly to the final stage of the LET Lalla Aicha Tour School.
