A strong field of 117 players will assemble at Sölvesborg Golf Club in Sweden this week to compete in the Sölvesborg Ladies Open hosted by Fanny Sunesson, taking place from August 20-22.

Sunesson, best known for being Nick Faldo’s caddie from 1990 to 1999, will act as the ambassador for the tournament and will share her experiences with both the guests of the Pro-Am and also the players competing in the professional event this week.

The tournament, which features on both the LET Access Series and Nordea Tours, is the last of six events in Sweden and Norway this season and will see a large contingent of 48 Swedes teeing up. They include Johanna Gustavsson, who won the Larvik Ladies Open last week in a recording breaking 14-hole sudden death play-off against Spanish amateur Natalia Escuriola.

Competitors from 23 different countries will take part this week, including most of Europe and as far afield as Colombia and South Africa.

Nine players in the current top ten of the LETAS order of merit will be in Sölvesborg, along with Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson, who will be assisting Carin Koch as one of the vice-captains at the upcoming Solheim Cup, which takes place at St. Leon-Rot in Germany next month.

The tournament week starts with the Pro-Am on Wednesday, followed by three rounds from Thursday to Saturday. There will be a cut of 36 holes to the top 40 professionals and ties.
