Sweden’s Sofie Bringner is thrilled to tee it up in her home country as she returns to compete in a LET Access Series (LETAS) tournament at Orresta Golf & Konferens in Vasteras, Sweden.
The Vasteras Open Presented by PadelPitch will see 120 players compete for a purse of 40,000 EUR in the 54-hole event.
The Swede, who gained her full LET card for this season with her top-6 finish on the LETAS Order of Merit in 2022 is excited to play an event on home soil.
“It’s always nice to play home in Sweden so it will be fun to tee it up here at Orresta on Wednesday, I’m looking forward to that,” said the 25-year-old.
“This is my first time playing this golf course but I have heard that Orresta is a good one, so it will be fun playing here this week!”
The rising Swedish star has had a number of solid finishes on the LET, having four top-20 results to her name as well as overnight leads in Italy and England.
“It has been some ups and downs, but my game is absolutely trending in the right direction. I’m happy that I have been up at the top of the leaderboard a few times and hope I can manage to put four good rounds together soon.
“I have had a couple of weeks at home so it’s perfect for me to play on LETAS in Sweden before I’m ready for a six-week stretch on the LET again.”
The tournament this week will see other LETAS stars in the field, including Czechia’s Sara Kouskova, the Santander Golf Tour – Malaga champion.
The Czech talent scored her second LETAS win and first win as a professional a fortnight ago to get settled in her new journey.
“We managed to celebrate already on the plane when the pilot announced my win, that was really nice!
“During the week I tried to rest up and give attention to some admin activities and then practiced and played a round of a local team tournament to stay competitive,” said the 23-year-old from Prague.
The sixth player on the LETAS Order of Merit looks to follow Bringner’s steps and maintain her position within the top six that secures the LET card for next season.
Kouskova has positive memories of Sweden, having placed in the top 10 at this tournament one year ago, while still an amateur.
“I am so happy to be back in Sweden, I love the country and the people. They are always friendly and welcoming, and I cannot stop to be amazed by the beautiful nature everywhere.”
Although playing a different golf course than last year, she has been enjoying Orresta Golf & Konferens already.
“The course is in great shape. Some spots did not recover after the tough winter but that does not take away from the fast pace and quality of the greens. And the surroundings are absolutely precious, the back nine is almost entirely in the forest.”
Play goes underway on Wednesday morning at 8:00 local time from the first and tenth holes.
In the first round, Kouskova will tee up at 8:44 CET with Germany’s Patricia Isabel Schmidt and Dutch amateur Lauren Holmey, while Bringner will play alongside compatriot Josefine Nyqvist and LETAS Order of Merit leader Chiara Noja from Germany.
After the completion of 36 holes, 45 professional plus ties will make the cut.
