On a day when nine golfers broke par, Laura Sanchez Zuluaga kept her wits about her at the ELVI Ladies Finnish Open. Carding five birdies against a single bogey, the Columbian shot 67 to take sole possession of the lead at seven-under par.

“I think it has been a combination of good drives, followed by good shots to the green and good putts. I’ve been reading the greens well and just having fun.”

Zuluaga’s best finish on the LETAS is 9th at the Azores Ladies Open back in 2015. This year, however she has missed the cut in four out of the four events she has played. Her scores of 68 and 67 this week are also her low rounds of the year on tour. Looking forward to the final round, Zuluaga plans to continue in the same vein.

“I’m just going to do what I have been doing these past days. Focus on each shot, relax and enjoy another round of golf.”

Two shots back is home favourite Sanna Nuutinen, a winner last season on the LET Access Series. Following an opening round 70, she was one of the four to shoot 67. The others were fellow countrywoman, Ursula Wikstrom and Charlotte Thompson of England. Both players are tied for 3rd place, alongside Manon de Roey from Belgium and England’s Meg MacLaren, who both shot 69.

53 players made the cut which fell at +5.  Anna Backman (70,71) overtook Ellinoora Moisio (68,73) as the leading amateur heading into the final round of the €35,000 event, being held at the Hillside Golf Club in Vihti, Finland.
