The sixth hole at Samso Golf Course
The LET Access Series will break new ground this year when it visits Denmark for the Samso Ladies Open taking place from August 16-18.
It will be the first time that the Access Series has visited Denmark and Samso Golf Club, located on a beautiful island west of Copenhagen, which will also hold the Samso Classic on the ECCO Tour in June this year.
The Samso Ladies Open will carry a minimum prize fund of €20,000 and be the ninth Access Series event on the 2012 schedule after the season started with Marion Ricordeau’s exciting victory at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open in France this March.
The latest announcement brings the number of events on the LET Access Series this year to 12. The players will visit Denmark after the Women’s Bank Open in Finland and before the Fourqueux Ladies Open in France.
The event will serve as the final for a national breast cancer charity tournament called the ‘Pink Cup’, which is played in every golf club throughout Denmark. The winners of the national contest will be announced during the tournament, which is expected to attract strong publicity nationwide.

Event promoter Henrik Bergqvist, Green Time, said: “Samso Ladies Open was a great success last year, the support from the players was fantastic and we are particularly pleased that the tournament can now be part of the official Ladies Access Series. We have strong ladies players in Denmark and the future looks bright with a whole bunch of girls coming home from schools in the US where they have been performing outstanding.”
The Captain of Samso Golf Club, Michael Svinth, added: “We are welcoming the Ladies Access Series to Samso and are proud of being included in their schedule. We are looking forward to seeing the ladies compete on our course. We feel confident that the Pink Cup will set another record towards collecting the highest amount of any club for the fight against breast cancer.”
This year’s field will be made up of 72 Access Series players from approximately 25 different countries globally.
Last year, the LET’s 2010 money list winner Lee-Anne Pace and 2005 European number one Iben Tinning were among those who participated in a Pro Am version of the Samso Ladies Open organised between Samso Golf Club and the Cancer Society as part of the Pink Cup. Pace eventually saw off Tinning’s challenge after an exciting final round.
About the LET Access Series:
The LET Access Series (LETAS) launched in 2010 as the official feeder tour to the Ladies European Tour. The objective of LETAS is to provide greater playing opportunities for female professional golfers. All female professional golfers and amateurs with a handicap of 3 or better are eligible for membership of LETAS, providing they are over 18 years of age. The top three players on the 2012 LETAS Ranking will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour for the 2013 season, while players in fourth to 15th positions will have the opportunity to progress to the final stage of LET Qualifying School, thereby skipping the first qualifying event. If the top three players are already exempt for the Ladies European Tour then the cards will be available to the next best players inside the top 10 on the 2012 LETAS Ranking. If a player in fourth to 15th position is already exempt to Final Qualifying School for the 2013 Ladies European Tour season, then the next non-exempt player down to 30th position on the 2012 LETAS Ranking will be offered a place at LET Final Qualifying School.
