ROOKIE REPORT: THE HALFWAY MARK

We started the 2025 season with 75 rookies all eager to impress, learn and rack up points on the crucial LETAS Order of Merit.

This week marks the midway point of the season so it seems a good point to check in on our rookies who are excelling on Tour and get to know them a bit better.

Topping the rookie ranking tables is England’s Charlotte Heath who made an impressive debut at the Madaef Golfs Ladies Open by Saidia Resorts where she finished second after losing a playoff to England’s Thalia Martin.

Since then, Heath has gone on to record four top 10 finishes and is yet to miss a cut.

Speaking about the last few weeks on Tour, Heath said: “I went into the first Swedish event knowing I had to get into the top 10 to play the next two events.

“So being able to do that at the PGA of Sweden Championship was great. To achieve something under pressure made me very happy.”

Heath had an impressive career resumé prior to joining the Tour. The 23-year-old’s most notable achievement is winning the Smyth Salver as the low amateur at the 2023 Women’s British Open. Her career best rank was seventh on the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

“I feel like I am close to a win. I still have a lot to work on and my swing is not exactly where I want to be.”

Heath sustained a back injury in the last off season due to an unhealthy move in her swing.

“I didn’t think I would be playing golf. So, the fact that I am makes me feel lucky. I’m trying to enjoy being out here. I’ve had setbacks. When I arrived in Morocco I hadn’t played 18 holes for a while.”

Heath plans to play the rest of the LETAS season after improving her status in the re-rank.

“I’m most excited now for the Danish event next week. My boyfriend is Danish and played the DP World Tour event there in 2023.

“I walked the course then, so I’m excited now to play it and go somewhere familiar.”

Close on Heath’s heels is Australian rookie Justice Bosio. The Australian arrived fresh-faced to Tour in Austria and made a top 10 finish showcasing her as a rookie to watch out for.

Two runner-up finishes followed alongside another top five finish at the Swedish Strokeplay.

The last two weeks have been tougher for Bosio who faced her first missed cut at the Islantilla Open.

“Result-wise the last two weeks was definitely not how I was planning them to go.” Bosio said. “I think that’s just what comes from a rookie season. Everyone is learning along the way but especially us rookies.

“I’m getting used to playing so many tournaments in a row. The last two weeks were a big learning curve. Hopefully the week off will be a nice little reset and I will be ready to get back into the back half of the season.”

As soon as Bosio touched down for her first season in Europe we knew she would be one to keep your eyes on as the 21-year-old had already placed sixth at the LET’s 2024 NSW Open and finished tied first at Q-School Pre-Qualifying.

“I think my rookie season has been good so far. I obviously got off to a good start which is always nice and makes you feel confident going into the rest of the season.

“I think it did live up to my expectations. I was always really excited to see all the different European countries and everything.

“I’ve ticked a lot of countries off my bucket list which is exciting.”

Bosio is excited for the rest of the season and is keen to keep her position in the rankings to pursue her goal of earning 2026 LET playing rights.

“I think I am probably most excited to play the one in France just because I really want to go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower. Everyone would say the event in Switzerland as well as it’s a very pretty country. Those are the last two events I will be playing this season.”

Japan’s Reina Fujikawa sits third in the rankings after becoming the first rookie winner on Tour this season at the Montauban Ladies Open after a memorable six-hole play-off.

Last week, we said goodbye to Fujikawa as she returns to Japan for the rest of the season after capping off her time on LETAS with another top 10 finish at the Islantilla Open. We wish her the best of luck with her next tournaments in Japan.

Iceland’s Andrea Bergsdottir sits fourth on the rookie rankings after nine events.

It’s been a great first season for the 25-year-old with the highlight being two consecutive top five finishes at the Santander Golf Tour-Avila and the Montauban Ladies Open.

Speaking about her season so far, Bergsdottir said: “I’m happy with the season so far. I have had solid golf. I wanted to have some more top 10 finishes but I’m not too sad about it.

“I’m just happy to see that I’ve been playing steady golf and have a lot more to build on to make birdies and be up there.”

Despite growing up and living in Sweden, Bergsdottir is proud to play under the Icelandic flag, where her parents are originally from.

Therefore, a proud moment this season was watching her compatriot Ragga Kristinsdottir becoming the first Icelandic player to win on Tour.

“It inspired me. It was so much fun, and she deserved it so much. It’s fun to see. We’ve never had anyone win on LETAS or the LET so it’s great for Iceland to get that.”

Bergsdottir joined the Tour after a successful five years at Colorado State University where she won two times individually.

“Being professional is a big change especially when you come from college and everything is done for you.

“I’m slowly getting used to the organization side of Tour life and starting to like it and enjoy having more control.”

Bergsdottir plans to tee it up for the rest of the LETAS season in pursuit of one of the seven coveted LET cards. The Icelandic rookie will not partake at the Ladies Slovak Open as she’s invited into the LET’s Hills Open at her home course.

With eight events left on the schedule there are plenty more opportunities out there for our rookies to take advantage of.

LETAS now has a week off before we head to Denmark for the inaugural Q-Tour Himmerland Championship Presented by Sand Spedition held at DP World Tour venue, the Himmerland Resort.
