RYDQVIST ENJOYING FIRST FEW EVENTS AS A PROFESSIONAL AT HOME

Rydqvist

Rising Swedish star Louise Rydqvist turned professional two weeks ago at the PGA of Sweden Championship Landeryd and made an impressive debut.

The 23-year-old finished 14th and followed that result up with another top 30 finish at the Swedish Strokeplay Championship last week. Now she’s looking to break into the top 10 this week.

This week sees 123 players tee it up at Sherike Golfklubb for a €45,000 prize fund across 54 holes.

Speaking about her first few events as a professional, Rydqvist said: “It’s a very exciting time and I’ve really enjoyed the first few events.

“I have played some solid golf so far, but I need to get rid of a couple bad holes to have a top finish. I am really looking forward to this week in Västerås!”

Rydqvist had an exemplary amateur career. In 2022, she was runner-up at the Women’s Amateur Championship and won the Espirito Santo Trophy. In 2024, she won the European Ladies Amateur and made the cut at the Women’s British Open.

Rydqvist was also the only female amateur to make the cut at the 2024 Scandinavian Mixed and has made the cut at an LPGA event, after receiving a sponsor’s invite to the Annika.

Now Rydqvist is excited to hopefully use LETAS as a pathway to succeed professionally.

My goals for this week are to continue work on my processes, be present and hopefully bring home some hardware and OOM points.”

Despite playing at home, Rydqvist is new to this course and is excited for the test which Sherike GolfKlubb provides.

“I played 9 holes yesterday and the course is in good condition. I enjoy the layout. A good game plan with some good shots will help to make a bunch of birdies out there.

“I believe it plays to my strengths as a solid ball striker, and I hope the putter gets hot.”

Rydqvist has already won a professional tournament. In 2020 she secured victory on the Swedish Golf Tour at the Johannesberg Ladies Open whilst also finishing runner-up at the Allerum Open a stroke behind LET player Sara Kjellker.

The Swede tees it up at 13:34 alongside two 2025 LETAS winner’s, Denmark’s Amalie Leth-Nissen and Mexico’s Alejandra Llaneza.
