After last week’s win at the Big Green Egg Swedish Open, England’s Emily Price is feeling more confident than ever to find repeated success at this week’s PGA Championship Gothenburg.
At Varbergs Golf Klubb last Friday, the Birmingham based rookie produced the best 18-hole scorecard to emerge the winner after the event was reduced to a one-day-tournament due to severe weather.
Speaking ahead of this week, Price said: “I’m feeling good. I have some confidence off the back of last week, but as always, it’s a new course, different conditions and so I just need to reset and play it from scratch.”
This week our golfers are teeing it up at Varbergs GolfKlubb, the site of the 2022 Goteborg Open.
“I love the golf course. I think it’s beautiful. It is challenging in spots as the wind can get strong by the sea but the greens are probably the best, we’ve had all year so that’s nice.”
Last week’s win comes off the back of a successful rookie season for Price who after four top-five finishes this season finally became part of the winner’s circle.
However, last week’s win carried no Order of Merit points, so Price is determined to make it a back-to-back to confirm her spot in the top-six and to give herself greater chance of securing a full Ladies European Tour card.
“My goal is to just play one shot at a time and commit to each one fully. If I can beat the course that’s all that matters.
“Last week is behind me, but as always I’m striving to win.”
Price’s campaign starts at 12:40pm local time alongside fellow England player Gemma Clews, winner of the Smorum Ladies Open by EC Drive and Sweden’s Kajsa Arwefjall.
