England’s Emily Price produced the best 18-hole scorecard to emerge the winner of the Big Green Egg Swedish Open which was reduced to a one-day-tournament on Wednesday due to severe weather.

Price who started on hole two in the shotgun start started strong, rolling in two birdies on her first two holes. One more birdie on her sixth put Price in a share of the lead.

The 24-year-old from Birmingham continued the fine form finishing the tournament with a flourish with two birdies to secure a one-shot lead ahead of Australia’s Stephanie Bunque and Finland’s Karina Kukkonen.

Speaking about the day Price said: “I feel good. It’s nice to know my game is in a good spot.

“This gives me momentum heading into the next event next week, which is nice to have. It’s a new course so I’ll reset and be ready to go again.”

This win comes off the back of a successful rookie season for Price who after four top five finishes this season can finally be part of the winner’s circle.

Whilst our players couldn’t compete over the last few days, behind the scenes they were still working hard to prep for this tournament like any other.

“The last couple of days I practiced as much as I could,” admitted Price, “But I also took the time to just relax and conserve my energy.

“I don’t have time to do any celebrating this week as it’s back-to-back. But I’m sure my brother Jake, myself, and Mayka [Hogeboom] will find a nice cake or something to eat tonight.

“Finally, I just want to thank all the staff on the LET Access tour and the Nordic tour for their hard work with such strange circumstances.”

Due to severe weather conditions, the Big Green Egg Swedish Open was reduced to 18 holes with a shotgun start.

After a review of the LETAS Regulations, the event was deemed unofficial.

Therefore, Order of Merit Points, Rolex Ranking Points and WAGR points will not be distributed. Prize Money will be reduced by 50% of the originally published amount.

LETAS is staying in Sweden for two weeks with the next tournament, the PGA Championship Gothenburg commencing on the 17th ofAugust.
