Players including tournament leader Natalia Escuriola were treated to a tour of the local award winning Boxford Farms, after their second round. The players walked through the orchards, helped picked some of the apples and learned about the different varieties of fruit produced at the farm.
Boxford Farms have been growing fruit on the Suffolk and Essex border for 70 years and were named the 2015 Top Fruit Grower of the Year. As a family-run business in its third generation, innovation has always been a key to the success of the farms, diversifying into areas such as fruit juices, a hotel, golf club and the leisure business (Stoke by Nayland Hotel Golf and Spa).
Players were also taught how to carefully pick apples from the orchard and also tasted some of the produce.
From the orchards, players were then able to take a look at the cold fridges, and how the fruit is stored before it is sold to supermarkets, or used for fruit juices.
On behalf of the players a big thank you to Tamara Unwin and Robert England for taking the time to show the players around.
