RACHAEL GOODALL’S GOAL SETTING AND WINTER PRACTISE

“Work out my goals”

At the end of the previous season, I sit down and work out my goals for next season and what I want to work on to get better in both my golf and fitness.

“Extra focus on the weaker areas”

I try to put in extra focus on the weaker areas of my game during practice, but always work on all areas.

This winter I have been working hard on my swing, with my coach Daniel Haughian, to make the swing changes I felt I needed to make to gain more consistency off the tee and to hit more greens in regulation.

“Distance control”

I spend a lot of the winter working on 100 yards and in as this is one of the most important areas of the game. One of my favourite ways to practice pitching is to place cones from 10 yards to 100 yards 10 yards apart and try to hit the cones, it helps me with my distance control.

The weather is less than ideal in the UK this time of the year but I try to get out on the golf course as often as I can. I spent alot of my evenings playing 9 or 12 holes, trying different shots to keep my game as sharp as possible for the start of the new season.

“Every little helps”

I have spent a lot of time in the winter working on my strength and fitness in the gym, with it being a long season every little bit helps!

I can’t wait for the season to start, with my first tournament being in Terre Blanche at the end of the month.

Fingers crossed for some warmer weather!
