Parra Presses For First Win

                                                                                                  Maria Parra

Spain’s Maria Parra shot an impressive 67, 5 under par, to take a one shot lead ahead of local favourite Lynn Carlsson at the PGA Halmstad Ladies Open at Haverdal. Parra recorded the low round of the week with six birdies and one bogey blemish on the par five 15th hole.

“It’s been a great round today. I was so confident on my game because I’m playing very well. Yesterday, I also played well but the shots to the pin were not as close as today. My putter has helped me a lot today and on top of everything, the fact that I’ve made only one bogey in 36 holes.”

The 18-year-old is hoping to follow in the footsteps of her fellow countrywomen, Luna Sobron and Carolina Gonzalez Garcia, who have both won on the LET Access Series this year.

“I’m always confident about my game. I’m playing really well these days with good rounds. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow but I think you have to give everything every day and that’s what I will do so I hope this can be the third Spanish win on LETAS this season.”

Carlsson knows the course well and will feel confident going into the final round tomorrow. The Swede added a 4 under par, 68, to her opening 71 for a 5 under par total.

Brazil’s Miriam Nagl is a further shot back at four under, also recording a 68 in her second round. Scotland’s Michele Thomson (71), Charlotte Thompson (68) from England, Spain’s Mireia Prat (72) and Sanna Nuutinen (70) from Finland are all tied for 4th place at 3 under par, 141.
