Chrisje de Vries, currently 6th on the LETAS Order of Merit, hopes for a strong finish in Turkey to progress on to the Ladies European Tour next year…

Chrisje turned professional in 2011 and had the opportunity to play a total of 12 LET events in 2012, after finishing in the top 30 at LET Qualifying School. In 2013, she has been playing full time on LETAS event and also played the LET tournament in her home country, the Deloitte Ladies Open.

Q: What have you been doing this year since the season started?

My first memory from this season was in Dinard, in April, where I played really well and I loved it there. Then I struggled a bit because I was working on some technical things that were not good and then, I got back a little bit and I started playing okay. Now I have made a lot of cuts in the middle of the season and finished second in the Norrporten Ladies Open…

Q: How and when did you start to play golf?

I started to play when I was seven years old. My parents went to the golf course and my brother and I went too. And then we did some golf and some games in the locker room. This was near Amsterdam, in the north part.

Q: What is the best part of your game now? Is there any yardage that you would think you are an expert?

At the moment I think I can hit straight drives and my chipping, pitching is also very good. I think I am good at a distance inside 70 meters.

Q: What is your driving distance and putting average?

My driving distance is around 220 meters and putting average is 31 approximately.

Q: Your lowest round?

6 under par this year in Holland during the qualification for the national open.

Q: How many holes in one?

One in a tournament and also one during a practice round at the Unicredit Ladies German Open last year.

Q: Favourite golf course that you have played this year on LETAS?

I would say Dinard, in France.

Q: Have you many friends already on this tour?

Yes, many… I like the Belgians, but also others like Martyna, from Poland, who I am rooming with and all the Scottish girls and the Spanish…

Q: Have you any superstitions when you play golf?

Too many. I always have the same ball marker, which is a 50 cents coin, from Spain. I have used it for 5 years, only during tournament days, not on practice days. Then, I always think the day before what outfit I am going to wear the following day.

Q: Your expectations this year?

At the beginning of the year I had no idea. But then I started to play well and I have now the chances to get my card and it is now really close together… I was a little bit nervous, and this was in my head. But now I think that I would need to just play and see what I get from the whole year. I have the tickets to Morocco already to play the Tour School, but it is a flexible ticket…
