Emma Nilsson
Sweden’s Emma Nilsson, who has received an invitation to play in this week’s Sberbank Golf Masters in the Czech Republic, is full of confidence after she won a Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS) event at the same golf course only two weeks ago.
Nilsson won a two-hole play-off against Frenchwoman Melodie Bourdy to claim the Pilsen Golf Challenge at Golf Park Plzeň – Dýšina, her first title on LETAS.
The 20-year-old from southern Sweden fired rounds of 66, 70 and 70 to tie with Bourdy on a three-round total of 206, seven-under-par. With her victory, Nilsson earned her place in this week’s event, which is her first start on the top flight Ladies European Tour.
“I think the course is a little bit different, it is a little longer and a few tees are further back, but otherwise it’s the same good golf course and I really like it. This will be a fun week,” said Nilsson, who is playing in her first full season as a professional on the LET’s developmental tour.
Other players in the 131-woman field who performed well in the LETAS event a fortnight ago include LET rookie Nobuhle Dlamini from Swaziland, who finished in a share of third place on six-under-par as well as Czech amateur Adela Cejnarova, who finished in a tie for sixth place with Sweden’s Anjelika Hammar at five-under-par.
